Seasonal Care Plan: Natural Remedies & Recipes for Sinus Infection, Sore Throat, and Fever Relief

After a beautiful retreat in late April, life threw me a curveball.

My girls got sick. Then my husband. And right before Cielo, The Savor Mama podcast launched, it hit me too: sinus pressure, ear pain, sore throat, fever, exhaustion.

Some are calling it the new COVID, but regardless of the name—it’s been a journey. And it reminded me of a deeper truth: sickness is often an invitation to pause and prepare.

So instead of panicking, I decided to build a seasonal care plan I could run to—something rooted in both the remedies I grew up with in the Philippines and my background in healthcare.

Natural Support That’s Ready When You Are

This care plan isn’t just a list of things to try when you’re already overwhelmed—it’s something I intentionally prepare before sickness strikes again.

Ear Pressure & Sinus Relief

  • Steam bowl with peppermint, eucalyptus, chamomile tea, or salt
(Cover your head with a towel and breathe deeply for 5–10 minutes.)

  • Hot compress with salt or rice
(Warm it up, place in cloth, and rest over your sinus or ear area.)

  • Rest & hydration
(Essential for recovery. I use electrolytes and coconut water to support hydration.)

Go-To Food & Remedies

  • Ginger, garlic, and onion in all my cooking
(These are my healing staples! Anti-inflammatory, immune-boosting, and comforting.)

  • Chamomile or mint tea with honey
(Soothe sore throat and calm the nervous system.)

  • Lugaw, Tinola, or broth-based soups
(Gentle on the body, rich in healing nutrients, and easy to digest.)

  • Warm salt water gargle
(Classic for sore throat—kills bacteria and reduces inflammation.)

  • Cool compress and socks
(Yes, I bring out the Filipino remedy of keeping socks on, applying oils or even onions underfoot to help regulate fever.)

Why I Created This Plan

It’s not just about what to take when you're sick—it’s about being ready to care for your whole self.

Remember:"Health is not just about avoiding sickness. It’s choosing wholeness daily—even when no one else sees it."

I created this care plan so I wouldn’t feel helpless again. So that when illness makes its rounds in our family (as it often does in motherhood), I have something loving and practical to turn to—already written, already prepared.

Coming Soon: A Soul Care Episode Just for You

At the end of this month, I’ll be releasing a special episode on the Cielo, The Savor Mama podcast that dives into the soul care practices that have sustained me through:

  • Years of motherhood

  • Sickness and recovery

  • Seasons of burnout

  • And moments of emotional healing

These rhythms are simple but powerful—because soul care isn’t just about bubble baths and candles. It’s about learning to honor yourself the way God does.
